Legal Advocacy

If you are in immediate danger, Call 911.

Navigating the legal system can be overwhelming and complex, especially when you are a survivor of domestic violence. Our Legal Advocacy Program offers free, confidential, and trauma-informed support to help you understand your rights and explore legal options for your safety and well-being.

We understand that engaging with legal processes can be re-traumatizing, and our dedicated legal advocates are here to provide compassionate, non-judgmental assistance every step of the way. While our advocates are not attorneys and cannot offer legal advice, they are highly trained to:

  • Demystify the legal system: We'll help you understand court procedures, terminology, and what to expect.

  • Inform you of your rights: Learn about your legal rights and legal remedies for your safety, including orders of protection.

  • Assist with safety planning: We'll work with you to develop a comprehensive and personalized safety plan, an essential tool for protecting yourself and your children during and after legal proceedings.

  • Offer emotional support: We recognize the immense stress and emotional toll of legal matters. Our advocates provide a supportive presence, helping you feel empowered and less alone during this challenging time.

  • Connect you to resources: We can help you access other vital resources within our agency and the community.

Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and support you need to make informed decisions about your legal journey while prioritizing your safety and healing.
