Q: Help, my partner texts me over 100 times a day. I need to check in with them constantly. Sometimes I have to send pictures with where I am at. How do I get them to stop? I don't want to keep going like this.
A: If your partner is sending too many texts, it is not just annoying, it is likely unhealthy. Keeping in touch throughout the day is one thing, but constant contact may be unhealthy. If your partner is texting you obsessively, think to STOP!
Show another peer or person you trust the texts.
Tell your partner that you are not comfortable with the texts.
Organize a game plan to resolve the unwanted texts.
Protection orders are available and will enforce unwanted harassing texts.
Remember, if they’re using text messages to monitor who you’re with or where you go, that is a warning sign of abuse.
